Functional Materials Processing Research Group
We create advanced technological seeds for innovative functional materials and chemicals, contributing to mobile communication systems, high-performance aerogels, flow synthesis, and microwave heating technologies. We also apply process informatics to accelerate the development of functional materials and chemical manufacturing technologies.
Main Research Subjects
1. Low-dielectric, low-loss substrate materials
As demand increases for higher frequencies and lower power consumption toward sixth-generation (6G) mobile communication systems, we are developing materials that meet next-generation performance requirements by combining polymer–ceramic composites with supercritical foaming technologies.

2. Development of automated high-throughput fluid property measurement systems
Solvent property data are essential for reaction analysis and process design, yet difficult to obtain for newly developed solvents or under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. We have developed an automated system capable of high-throughput measurement of mixed-solvent properties over a wide range of temperatures and pressures, enabling data acquisition in as little as 15 minutes per data point and supporting density measurements above 200°C.

3. Development of flow reaction analysis systems with automated control and inline analysis
By integrating automated flow-rate and temperature control with inline infrared and near-infrared spectroscopy, we have developed methods to efficiently analyze reaction kinetics and residence time distributions in flow reactors.
