  • High Reynolds number actual flow facility (Hi-Reff)

  • Testing area of water flow calibration facility

  • Hydrocarbon flow calibration facility

  • Hydrocarbon flow calibration facility at low flow rates

  • Viscosity calibraion apparauts with capillary master viscometers

  • MEMS(Micro electro-mechanical systems)-based micro viscosity sensor

Our missions are to develop and provide the national standards for liquid flow and viscosity as well as to develop measurement techniques related to liquid flow and viscosity, and also to perform fundamental research on high Reynolds number flow turbulence.

Research Themes

  1. Development and supply of liquid flow standards for water and hydrocarbon. Development of measurement techniques for flow rate and flow velocity.

  2. Provision of viscosity standard by comparative method and development of relevant calibration and measurement techniques. Development of viscosity standard of non-Newtonian fluid and MEMS(Micro electro-mechanical systems)-based micro viscosity sensor.

  3. Development of calibration techniques and flowmeter for micro liquid flow. Fundamental research in micro flow.

  4. Fundamental research on wall-bounded turbulence at high Reynolds number. Fundamental research on turbulence in non-Newtonian fluid.
