Ceramic Components and Processing Research Group
To promote the use of long-life structural ceramic materials, we are developing high-performance components such as ceramic fillers and ceramic-resin composites with carbon fiber, process technologies such as granulation and 3D lamination molding, and new ceramic coating technologies to achieve even longer life. We are also developing new ceramic coating technologies for longer life.
Group Research Theme
Composite Technology of Recycled Carbon Fiber
The properties of recycled carbon fiber can differ significantly from those of new carbon fiber. Therefore, conventional molding and evaluation technologies may not be applicable to it. Our group is conducting research and development to create molding processes and evaluation technologies that are suitable for discontinuous recycled carbon fibers. We are also working on the international standardization of these technologies.

Ceramic Coating Technology
Ceramic coatings are a powerful technology for protecting structural materials from harsh environments such as corrosion, wear, and erosion. Our research group is developing coating technologies to enhance the properties of coating materials and improve the integrity of ceramic coatings on dissimilar substrates using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques (upper figure). Our research interests also include coating processes for fibers and powders, aiming to establish tailored structures for enhanced functionalities (lower figure).
