About Us

OISHI Isao (Director)

The Health and Medical Research Institute conducts research and development with the mission of creating innovations that address societal challenges—such as population aging and declining birthrates—while contributing to economic growth and strengthening industrial competitiveness. Our research activities are carried out at both the Tsukuba and Shikoku Centers.

Our institute brings together researchers from a broad range of disciplines, including ergonomics, cell engineering, analytical science, materials chemistry, device fabrication, mechanical and electrical engineering, and food science. By advancing scientific understanding of human health at multiple scales—from cells and tissues to organs and the whole body—and by promoting collaborative research with industry and medical institutions, we aim to create solutions that are truly aligned with human needs.

We remain fully committed to addressing these challenges by bridging fundamental science and real-world applications, and by accelerating the translation of research into societal value. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and collaboration.
