Mission

Establishment of a computing platform to explore use cases leveraging quantum computing technologies

Overview

R&D of architecture design for quantum and classical computing platforms, along with user environments, middleware, and system software for quantum–classical hybrid computing

Team Research Topics

Establishment of a quantum-classical hybrid computing platform

We are developing the quantum-classical integrated computing platform "ABCI-Q", which enables users to easily test and utilize multiple types of quantum computing technologies, in order to support the social implementation and exploration of use cases for quantum computing technologies. ABCI-Q is a hybrid computing platform consisting of a GPU-based supercomputer as the classical computing system, along with multiple modalities of quantum computers, including superconducting, neutral atom, and photonic systems. We conduct research and development of system software, middleware, and user environments that integrate these systems.

Research and development in quantum error correction

Quantum computers are highly susceptible to physical noise, and without correcting or mitigating noise-induced computational errors, their application to large-scale practical computations is difficult. Therefore, the realization of fault-tolerant quantum computers (FTQC), equipped with error correction and mitigation technologies, is essential. We conduct research and development on quantum error correction, which forms the core of FTQC, including the collection and database development of error information from quantum computers, as well as the development of new quantum error-correcting codes and decoding methods.
