Materials Science Research Group

The performance and characteristics of energy devices such as batteries and fuel cells are seriously affected by the nano-scale properties and functions of materials. To achieve higher performance of energy devices, it is necessary to understand these properties at the atomic and electronic level. Our research group is tackling nano materials science through a combination of microscopic observation using electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopy with first-principles calculations. We apply the obtained technologies and know-how to research and development in our research institute, and also utilize them for joint research with external partners.
