Greetings from Group Leader
I am Mihoko Hoshino, the Group Leader of Mineral Resources Research Group. This group was established in 2001, as a succeeding organization of the Mineral Resources Department of Geological Survey of Japan. We are the only research group in AIST working on natural and terrestrial mineral resources. As of 2026, this group consists of 8 regular staffs and 8 contract staffs (technical staffs and research assistants), and has been actively conducting researches and surveys on mineral resources to secure the stable supply of these resources for domestic industries.
