Industrial Tour

An industrial tour is planned during WRS2026. Three tour courses ([A] - [C]) are available.
Participants wishing to join the industrial tour are requested to select their preferred course during the online registration process.
The application deadline for the industrial tour is September 30, 2026.

Important Instructions

The conference organizers assume no responsibility for any accidents or injuries during the tour, except in cases of gross negligence. Participants are kindly requested to take all necessary precautions and comply with the following instructions:

  1. Please avoid wearing shoes with slippery surfaces, such as high heels or sandals.
  2. Please refrain from wearing clothing that exposes your skin, such as short sleeves or shorts.
  3. Please follow the instructions of staff throughout the tour.
  4. Do not touch equipment, machinery, products or exhibits during the visit.
  5. Do not drink alcohol before the tour. Eating and smoking at the tour site are prohibited.
  6. This tour is not covered by insurance. Participants join at their own responsibility.
  7. Please note that competitors may not be allowed to participate.
  8. Participants must gather at the designated meeting point and arrive on time.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis because the number of seats is limited.

Participation Fees and Transportation

  • Course [B] requires an additional participation fee of JPY 10,000 per person. This fee covers chartered bus transportation between Waseda University and the tour site and is not included in the conference registration fee.
  • Courses [A] and [C] do not require any additional fee at the time of registration. However, participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own transportation to and from the designated meeting points.
    • Course [A]: Approximately JPY 1,500 (one way) and approximately 2.5 hours from central Tokyo.
    • Course [C]: Approximately JPY 12,000 (one way) and approximately 5 hours from central Tokyo.


[A] RICOH Eco Business Development Center

The "Ricoh Eco Business Development Center" was founded as a project to commemorate the company's 80th anniversary. This center has three major functions: the "Reuse & Recycling Center," which started operation in 2016; "a center for verification of eco-business technologies," which is already in operation; and a "source to distribute information regarding eco-business activities." It aims at creating and expanding eco-business towards achieving "eco-management that evolves with customers."
At the foothill of scenic Mt. Fuji, surrounded by rich natural beauty, visitors can tour Ricoh Eco Business Development Center, Gotemba, which consists of a remanufacturing plant of photocopiers, explanations of R&D in promising eco-technologies, and a neat exhibition area.

[C] Shin-Etsu Denso (SHINE)

Theme:    Automotive Parts Remanufacturing

  • Location:    Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture
  • Maximum number of participants:    15

Schedule:

  • Date:    Friday, November 6, 2026
  • Gathering Time:    11:50
  • Meeting Point:    JR Shinano-Omachi Station

Omachi City is located approximately 280 km from Tokyo. Participants can travel from Tokyo Station by Shinkansen to Nagano Station (approximately 1.5 hours), followed by a local bus to Shinano-Omachi Station. Detailed transportation information will be provided individually to registered participants.
Because of the travel distance, participation in Course [C] requires a full day. Omachi City is located in a beautiful mountainous region of Japan. International participants may wish to stay overnight in Omachi or Nagano City on November 6 and enjoy sightseeing in the area.

Shin-Etsu Denso specializes in the remanufacturing of automotive electrical components. Established in 1967 and widely known under its "SHINE" brand, the company remanufactures starters, alternators, compressors, and other automotive electrical products.
Shin-Etsu Denso is one of Japan's leading automotive parts remanufacturing companies. It has contributed to previous World Remanufacturing Summit conferences. The company represents an excellent example of industrial-scale remanufacturing practices that contribute to resource efficiency and the circular economy. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about remanufacturing processes, quality assurance practices, and the role of remanufacturing in sustainable manufacturing.
