Ceramic Microstructure Control Group
Group Research Theme
The subject of our research group is to develop various ceramic materials with improved properties through tailoring their compositions and microstructures and evaluating their reliability for the purpose of achieving outstanding performance and good reliability of the composite components fabricated by joining different materials (e.g., ceramics and metals).
One example is silicon nitride ceramics with both high fracture toughness and high thermal conductivity for application of heat-dissipating metallized substrates of the next-generation power modules. Another example is high performance thermal insulators, filters, catalyst supports and light-weight ceramics with exceptionally high porosities fabricated by our novel gelation freezing technology.
