研究概要

睡眠障害やうつ病などの精神疾患、生活習慣病やロコモティブシンドロームの予防や改善に資する食品の機能性成分や天然化合物の探索・同定・作用メカニズムの解明を目指して研究を行っています。
細胞を用いたバイオイメージング、動物モデル実験、ヒト試験などをとおして、実用化に向けた橋渡し研究を担うことにより、国民の健康寿命の延伸に貢献したいと考えています。

研究課題

研究課題1:時間栄養学を活用したアンチエイジング技術の開発

超高齢社会を迎えたわが国では、高齢者において深刻な問題となっている睡眠の乱れや認知機能の低下、サルコペニアやフレイルなどの予防や改善による健康寿命の延伸が重要な課題となっています。最近の研究から、加齢に伴うこれらの疾患の発症には体内時計が深くかかわっていることが明らかとなってきました。私たちは、睡眠や体内時計の乱れによる精神疾患や生活習慣病の発症メカニズムの解明とともに、産学官の連携を積極的に推進することにより、食による睡眠や体内時計の積極的な制御技術の開発を目指した研究を行っています。

研究課題2:生活習慣病やこころの健康を維持するため天然化合物の探索

高齢化社会を迎える今、健康に人生を送るための助けになる機能性物質の開発は重要な研究課題である。そこで、様々な健康維持機能物質を探索するための発光イメージングを基盤としたバイオアッセイ系の開発、炎症性疾患, アレルギー応答、 免疫機能、 スキンケア、 メタボリックシンドローム、 メンタルシンドロームなどに効用のある機能物質の探索を進めています。

研究課題

研究課題3:食によるサルコペニア予防・改善法と老化筋細胞モデルの開発
研究担当者:安倍 知紀

骨格筋は運動器として日々の生活活動を支えるのみならず、全身の代謝調節も担っています。加齢による筋力と筋量の減少(サルコペニア)は生活の質を低下させるため、健康寿命の延伸には骨格筋の質と量を保つことが重要です。機能性食品や時間栄養学を活用して骨格筋の質と量を改善しうる食事療法の開発を目指しています。サルコペニアを予防または改善する機能性成分の簡便な探索・評価を実現するため、老化筋細胞モデルの開発にも取り組んでいます。
そのほか筋細胞に加えて、脂肪細胞や肝細胞を用いたin vitroの評価系を活用し、生活習慣病の予防・改善に資する機能性成分の探索・作用メカニズムの解明にも取り組んでいます。
