Metal Core Piezoelectric Fiber
Research keywords
Piezoelectric fiber, sensor, actuator, smart board
Research Objectives
We are developing piezoelectric fibers with a diameter of 200 μm that have a metallic core inside and studying applications using the piezoelectric fibers. Since it has a metallic core inside, it can be used for sensors and actuators simply by embedding it in conductive materials.
Research Results
By embedding piezoelectric fibers with metal cores in FRP composite materials, we have developed smart boards that can detect and suppress vibrations, and by using shape memory alloys for the inner core, we have developed composite functional fibers that have four functions: shape memory effect, superelastic effect, piezoelectric effect, and pyroelectric effect, and We are also working on applications for energy-harvesting devices, etc.
