Toward Solving the Social Issues of Energy, Environmental, and Resource Constraints
In October 2020, the Japanese government declared carbon neutrality, that is, net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, an extremely ambitious goal that cannot be achieved without extraordinary efforts. Achieving this goal requires discontinuous innovation that is not an extension of the past. We aim to contribute to “carbon neutrality by 2050” through research and development, which will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental loads and secure a stable supply of energy resources. We aim to continuously innovate.
Research Strategy
We will focus on the following to solve energy, environmental, and resource constraints.
- The development of technologies that contribute to making renewable energy the primary power source. The development of hydrogen utilization, energy carriers, CCU, and other technologies that contribute to energy conservation in nonpower fields.
- The development of risk assessment and environmental load reduction technologies that are indispensable for achieving the harmonious coexistence of industry and the environment.
- The development of technologies to produce methane hydrate domestically, which contributes to a stable supply of resources. The development of technologies related to urban mines that enable a stable supply of resources under environmental constraints.
