About the Group
The Marine Geo-Environment Research Group addresses global marine environmental issues, including ocean warming, acidification, and deoxygenation, as well as environmental pressures caused by human activities. We also promote environmental surveys that integrate geology, biology, physical oceanography, and geochemistry in relation to the development of marine energy and marine mineral resources, with a particular aim of contributing to environmental impact assessment.
Furthermore, the group conducts research on scientific support for nature-positive actions, conservation of coral reef ecosystems, and the development of geological information for the seas surrounding Japan.
The group belongs to the Research Institute of Geology and Geoinformation, Geological Survey of Japan, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).
