Outline
Introduction
Research Institute for Energy Conservation (iECO) was established on April
1st, 2015, leading to the sustainable society by way of achieving green
innovation, which will enforce the industrial competitiveness. For this
purpose, we are conducting R&Ds on energy technologies to improve the
efficiency at use as well as at conversions, for both the effective use
of limited energy resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
It is important to develop energy saving technology to achieve zero- emission
society. Upgrading of energy efficiencies is feasible by combining new
technologies for materials, devices and systems. Since energy consumption
is remarkably increasing in the consumer and transportation sectors, introduction
of efficiency improving technologies in these sectors are strongly desired.
Therefore, we are conducting the R&Ds of energy efficiency technologies
in the fields of thermal, electrical and chemical energies at the wide-spread
stages of research from basic to commercialization.
In particular, we are focusing on the following technologies.
- R&Ds on thermoelectric conversions and thermal energy management for effective use of unused heat resource
- R&Ds on fundamentals for high efficient combustion of gas turbine and clean automobile engine
- R&Ds on innovative and emerging energy technologies to realize breakthroughs
