Cell Regulation Materials Research Group Overview

There has been a particular need for cell industry in drug discovery and development, regenerative medicine, development of food and alternative protein industries, and the environmental fields. Research and development of technologies to control cellular function are required to accelerate the cell industry. We are committed to the research and development of cell manipulation technologies and materials that modulate cellular functions, and have performed research into their application and practical use. Our technologies and materials will contribute to the cell industry and help realize a sustainable society and prolong the healthy life of mankind.

Cell Regulation Materials Research Group Overview

Research Project

Project 1:Technology to manipulate cells and tissues with artificial materials
Researcher: SUMARU Kimio, TAKAGI Toshiyuki, YOSHIHARA Erika

We have developed technologies for sequencing, sorting, and designing cultured cells as desired using functional polymers; and for fluorinated lipids, which are expected to be deployed for functionalization of cells.

Cell Regulation Materials Research Group2

Project 2:Technology to regulate cell functions with biomaterials
Researcher: TERAMURA Yuji, OBUCHI Satoe, SATO Yuya

The use of highly biocompatible amphiphilic polymers and lipid nanoparticles has been found to enable modification of cell surfaces and modulation of cell functions. We conduct the applied research and social implementation research using the technology.
