Adhesive bonding has been utilized for manufacturing a wide range of industrial products such as electronic appliances and aircrafts. For further innovations in these products, studies focusing on "adhesion" in addition to the interfacial phenomena are necessary. In order to carry out such a focused study, we established the Adhesion and Interfacial Phenomena Research Laboratory in AIST in December 2015. The objective of this research laboratory is to promote research and development intended for a wide range of products ranging from basic ones to those requiring next-generation adhesives, by collaborating with the industry, academia, and government.
