Service Value Augmentation Research Team
In order for human augmentation technology to have the desired effect in society, it is essential to appropriately position the role of this technology in daily life and work, and to establish a mechanism to create superior value through its utilization. Service Value Augmentation Research Team is practically developing methods and methodologies for designing and operating such a value creation mechanism (service system) in cooperation with various experts and stakeholders (citizens, companies, local governments, etc.).

Research theme
Service Value Augmentation Research Team is promoting research and practice by setting up cross-cutting research themes for various industrial fields.
- We are engaged in research and practice of methodologies for designing and operating service systems that utilize digital technology including human augmentation technology (digital service systems).
- The detailed information is available at the following website.
https://soda.pj.aist.go.jp/
Service engineering/service design methodology
- We conduct research and practice of Living Lab, where we identify regional and social issues and develop solutions with citizens, and of Social Lab, where we conduct research and development and social implementation through co-creation with citizens.
Living lab and social lab
- We are developing technologies and methods to measure and analyze the behavior, situation, and psychological state (satisfaction, etc.) of customers and employees, and to help realize better services.
Service process analysis
- We conduct research on the approaches required to understand and improve the wellbeing of citizens and workers, as well as the management style (employee health management).
- We also examine ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) posed by human augmentation technologies and their implementation, and how to address them.
Well-Being, ELSI, employee health management
- We are working to create and standardize rules, guidelines, and case studies related to the smooth operation of services, requirements, and good design practices.
- Areas of activity: ISO TC159 (ergonomics), TC312 (service excellence), TC314 (aging society), TC324 (sharing economy), etc.
Service standardization
