AIST and A*STAR Research Entities has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to explore impactful quantum computing usecases.

On March 21, 2025, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology(AIST) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) – a research institute under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) – to develop synergistic tripartite partnerships among AIST, A*STAR IHPC, and industries in Japan and Singapore in exploration of impactful quantum computing use cases.

Through this partnership, A*STAR IHPC and the Global Research and Development Center for Business by Quantum-AI Technology (G-QuAT) will carry out algorithm and software R&D and its demonstration on ABCI-Q.

Both parties also agree to conduct Workshops, Symposiums or hackathons as well as encouraging industry for use case demonstration with hybrid algos and software. Strengthening the collaboration between the two institutions is expected to lead to new technological developments and market creation in the continuing acceleration of the industrialization of quantum technology.
