The Population Level Ecology Risk Assessment (PLERA) of Alcohol Ethoxylat (AE) was presented in this study. AE is the most widely used non-ionic surfactant which is composed of homologues formed by different chain-length of alkyl and ethoxylate. As one of the top six chemicals released to environment listed by PRTR law, AE is omnipresent in the aqueous environment, and thereby the Ecology Risk Assessment (ERA) is indispensable. However, since ecotoxicity data and exposure concentration of the every homologue are lacking, its risk has not yet been revealed now. In this study, we performed a PLERA on AE by setting the assessment endpoint as the fish population persistence through developing a neural network system for prediction of ecotoxicity data and monitoring the exposure concentration by latest quantitative technique for every homologue. Results revealed that no alert risk of AE on aquatic organism in most of the ambient environment except the potential high-exposure cases such as high-populated with lower-sewerage in winter. The risk results also suggest a needed reconsideration on PRTR law for AE homologues.
