概要

Results of some trials on PRTR (Pollutant Release and Transfer Register) show that several volatile chemicals are emitted massively from factories into the air during production and usage processes. For the adequate management of these chemicals within social acceptance, industries and regulatory agencies must evaluate not only their health risks to residents living near a factory, but also effectiveness of measures to control risk of each chemical, if necessary. 

In this study, we examined the methodology to compare health risks of various chemicals posing carcinogenic or non-carcinogenic effects, in order to select the high priority chemicals to be managed. Although further elaboration is required for our approach, the results suggest that some chemicals have the potential to cause risk comparable to benzene.
