Introduction
Ionizing Radiation has long been utilized in medical diagnosis, medical treatment, non-destructive testing, nuclear power generation, sterilization, processing, and plant breeding, becoming indispensable to humanity. In recent years, active research has been conducted using ionizing radiation from large accelerator facilities for cutting-edge analysis, medical treatment, and diagnosis. While essential and useful to humanity, improper handling of ionizing radiation can lead to serious consequences. Therefore, to ensure safety and security regarding ionizing radiation, it is critically important to handle ionizing radiation correctly, measure it accurately, and protect the human body from radiation exposure. Our research group develops technologies to accurately measure the quantity of ionizing radiation (X-rays, gamma rays, beta rradiations, particle beams), and develops, maintains, and supplies measurement standards for this purpose.
