Network Application Interface

An optical path network is well suited to transmitting a large volume of data such as high-definition video from a point to another point in a network. On the other hand, in applications such as video delivery, the data to be transferred are stored in a distributed storage system. In this sub-theme, we aim to build a network and storage coordination system that minimizes power consumption and other costs for image delivery, taking the storage layout and the network configuration into account. To do this, we have been developing application interface technologies which provide applications with network and storage in the same framework. We are also developing a distributed storage system which can guarantee access performance, and a scheme to gather resource utilization statistics of the application.
