About the 7th International Symposium & Workshop on VICTORIES Project

The 7th International Symposium on VICTORIES project & workshop, WIN² 2014, is an annual gathering that is part of the Vertically Integrated Center for Technologies of Optical Routing toward Ideal Energy Savings (VICTORIES) project. VICTORIES is sponsored by the "Creation of Innovation Centers by Fusion of Advanced Technologies" project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The Technology Center is operated by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). The 7th Symposium & Workshop, which has a theme of "What is the next network (WIN²  )? ー Challenge to the ultra-high definition video era" will be held on Wednesday, October 8 - Friday, October 10, 2014 at AIST (Tsukuba, Japan).

Prestigious speakers from global cutting-edge research laboratories, telecom carriers, and users have been invited to the symposium. In the workshop and panel discussion, expert researchers and engineers will discuss the future of optical switch technology. Recent research progress on the project for energy-saving optical routing will be presented during the poster sessions and exhibitions. A large-scale live demonstration of a "Dynamic Optical Path Network" test bed will be presented during the symposium in cooperation with NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) Science and Technology Research Laboratories in Tokyo; 8K Super Hi-Vision live content signal containing a low-latency on-the-spot broadcast of a Japanese traditional music performance will be transferred from Tokyo to Tsukuba through the dynamic optical path network without compression.
