2022 General Meeting of the Council for Devices and Systems for Next Generation Green Data Centers

The first general meeting of the GDC Council was held on Friday, July 22, 2022, in a hybrid format of M203 Conference Room on the 20th floor of the JR Kawasaki Tower Office Building and a web conference. The meeting was held with a limited capacity due to the new coronavirus infection control measures. The meeting was attended by 7 Type I members (38 participants), 4 Type II members (4 participants), and 2 Advisory members (3 participants). The web-based seminar was attended by 4 (12 participants) Type I members, 5 (12 participants) Type II members, and 2 (6 participants) Advisory members, and was attended by 2 (3 participants) Advisory members. All the member companies of the Council (7 Type 1 members, 7 Type 2 members, and 2 Advisory members) were able to gather together for the first time at the venue and via the web. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and New Energy and Industrial TEchnology Development Organization (NEDO) were also present as observers.

The meeting began with greetings from the Chair and Vice Chair, followed by a report on the operation of the Council, and explanations of the establishment and future operation of the Social Implementation Promotion Committee, the System Architecture Study Committee, and the Photoelectric Co-Packaging Optics Study Committee. In the self-introduction by each member company, they expressed their enthusiasm for the activities of the Council and for the social implementation of next-generation green data center technology, which energized the audience. After the general meeting, METI and NEDO, both observers, expressed their expectations for the activities of the Council, which was very encouraging to all members.
