Mission of Research Institute
In order to improve the total performance of parts and components, we develop new materials, joining, reliability evaluation and recycling technologies that are necessary for promoting multi-materialization through combining the right materials with different characteristics in the right places.
Research Themes
1. Development of functionality enhancement technology for multi-material constituent materials
By enhancing various functions of the constituent materials for multi-materialization, the performance of the multi-materialized parts and components can be improved. We develop lightweight materials and ceramics with excellent moldability and thermal properties.
2. Development of multi-material joining technology and reliability evaluation technology
We develop various joining technologies and evaluate the reliability of joints for multi-materialization. We develop and optimize various joining methods such as mechanical fitting, fastening, welding, brazing and bonding according to the specific components, and we develop evaluation technologies for further enhancing the reliability of joints.
3. Development of recycling technology for multi-material components
Materials that are applied to automobiles, etc., must be recyclable. For the multi-material components, technologies of removing the intruded impurities or detoxifying during recycling are required. In particular, we will develop technologies of recycling lightweight metal materials and CFRP, which have great economic effects through recycling.
