Greeting

 Development of Multi-Materials that produce novel materials and parts with excellent properties by combining different characteristic materials has been promoted actively in the world.
 In Multi-Material Research Institute, AIST, we have been researching new materials and processing for development of Multi-Material Technology. That will improve the total performance of parts and components that cannot be achieved with a single material by several materials. In particular, we study research and development specializing in the Advanced Structural Materials and Processing Research such as Combining Lightweight Metals (Mg and Al etc.), Fine Ceramics, Composite Materials (CFRP etc.), Carbon Neutral Materials, and Nano Materials. Also, we are developing New Jointing and Peeling Process, Upgrade Recycling Technology, and Innovative High Reliability Material Design and Characterization etc.

 Through the R&D on these Multi-Material Technologies, we will contribute to reduction of transportation energy by reducing the weight of transportation equipment, and the development of materials to support the future society such as power devices to realize safety and security and comfortable life environment.
