About Us

Greeting from director
The development of new materials with outstanding properties is indispensable
for strengthening Japan's industrial competitiveness and driving manufacturing
field. In the Multi-Material Research Institute, we are working to improve
the performance of various materials such as fine-ceramics, magnetic materials,
FRP/composite materials, and light metals. We are also engaged in the development
of manufacturing processes for these materials. And we are developing multi-material
technology to create components with properties which cannot be achieved
with a single material. In particular, we are developing technologies for
joining dissimilar materials, controlling material structures, and designing
materials to achieve excellent reliability and functionality, which are
indispensable for practical use in society. In addition, we are promoting
R&Ds, which contribute to resource-circulation and circular economy
by using Materials Informatics (MI)/Process Informatics (PI). We aim to
create technologies for materials contributing to energy harvest, resilient
supply-chain, and a safe, secure and comfortable environment.
Furthermore, we are accelerating R&Ds by using facilities “Materials
Process Innovation (MPI) platform” (Ceramics and Alloys Base) established
at Chubu Center, and we will collaborate with industry for the social implementation
of our technologies.
