The Hard Magnetic Materials Team focuses on the creation of high performance permanent magnets with the aim to contribute the advanced motor technology towards the environmental, energy and resource problems. Our lab mainly develops advanced manufacturing processes for permanent magnets by taking advantage of our powder metallurgical knowledge in order to create the bulk magnets with high magnetic properties. Current main purpose of our lab is to realize samarium-iron-nitrogen bulk magnets with high-temperature performance beyond dysprosium-added neodymium-iron-boron magnets.

 Development of ultrafine samarium-iron-nitrogen powders
Development of sintered magnets of samarium-iron-nitrogen
World’s finest Sm-Fe-N powder with the highest coercivity synthesized by a chemical approaches.
Possibility of producing Sm-Fe-N sintered magnets was demonstrated for the first time. Currently, the development towards the practical use is under way.
