Biofunctional Regulation Research Group

Research Outline

To contribute to innovation in healthy lifestyles, we are developing novel technologies “for improving and protecting the health by using bioluminescence and fluorescence”. We are engineering various bioluminescence- and fluorescence-probes and novel optical measurement systems, and are investigating molecular and cellular mechanisms of biological systems. Based on findings in differences between various bioluminescence systems, our research group focuses on development of luminescent/fluorescent protein molecular probes, supports on commercial product developments in private companies, and novel technologies for “visualization of functions of circadian rhythm genes”, “in vivo imaging of cancer cells”, “development of drug screening devices”, and “establishment of cell-based toxicity testing for chemicals”.
