We will create future scenarios for the evolution of a circular economy, and clearly set out a future vision for a circular economy and society and the roles of companies and industries that will contribute to their realization. In this study, 12 hot topics for the formation of a circular economy in the future through literature research and expert interviews are defined, and scenario planning techniques are then used to develop four different "possible future scenarios" based on discussions with experts in multiple fields. The depiction of multiple such future possibilities and the depiction of the requirements that will have to be met in such scenarios in concrete terms all the way from a global level right down to countries, the economic zones of businesses, and the daily lives of consumers will promote future discussion and depict the "ideal circular economy and society" that Japanese industry should aspire to and the path towards it.
We will link these findings to the development of concrete circular solutions and standardization strategies and will also propose a grand design for the future realization of a circular economy and society to society at large.
