The Systems Neuroscience Group in Neuroscience Research Institute (AIST) was established in 2001, derived from the Neuroscience Research Section, Electrotechnical Laboratory (ETL) as a parent organization. We are working toward understanding the physiological, molecular biological and anatomical aspects of the cognitive brain function such as cognition and learning.
Figure: When hand movements are recovered through rehabilitative training after a brain lesion, the cortical area relatively distant from the lesion are recruited during the initial stage (Early) and functional connections with regions near the lesion are strengthened during the latter stage (Late). This finding will contribute to the development of novel rehabilitation technologies.
