Emanation Thermal Analysis (ETA)was used for characterisation of microstructure
changes of precursors for titania based photocatalysts under in situ conditions of heat treatment of
the samples. Hydrous titania and titania containing 10 % of ruthenia were used as precursors measured during
heating in argon from 20 to 1000 C. The ETA results are in agreement with the results of
XRD, TEM, and surface area measurement. An agreement of the results was found. From the ETA results
temperatures intervals and kinetics of microstructure changes of the investigated precursors were determined.
