New optical near-field recording technique named Super-RENS (Super resolution near-field structure)
succeeded in recording and retrieving small marks beyond the diffraction limit.
A thin layer of an antimony (Sb) film that is added to a usual phase change optical disk structure
is a key material of this new technique.
Nonlinear optical property of the Sb film, especially, its optical switching property was studied
in stationary state using a nanosecond pulse laser.
Clear switching property was observed under microscopic measurement.
