We studied the mechanism of electron transfer in non-polar solvents by analyzing the transient effect in fluorescence quenching. Fluorescence decay curves were measured by time-correlated single photon counting and the results of analysis were correlated with the results of static fluorescence intensity measurements. We determined the dependence of the rate constant on the donor-acceptor distance and evaluated the distribution Y( r ) of electron transfer distance.
