Polynuclear transiton metal complexes have attracted much attention in terms of effective intramolecular elctron and/or energy transfer systems. Especially polynulear complexes incorporating rutheniumu (Ru) polypyridine complex have been studied extensively because of its attractive photochemical properties. We synthesized several novel types of hetero- or homo-binucler complexes having Ru(bpy)2+ moiety. In these complexes, bisphenthroline and 5,6-diaminophenathroline derivaties were used as bridging ligands. Photo- and electro-chemical properties of these complexes were also investigated.
