Theory of diffusion-assisted long-range reactions in confined systems.

We have derived a closed matrix form solution of the reaction-diffusion equation for the pair survival probability in confined systems (with a discrete spectrum of eigenmodes) for an arbitrary distance dependence of the reaction rate constant. Applications of this result are vast. In particular, we shall discuss the solution of the Sumi-Marcus model of electron transfer.
