17/Jun/2020 New paper:Modifying lignin

Screening system to find out lignin-modified plant by employing various enzyme genes from many organisms has been established and published in "Biotechnology for Biofuels". You can access from here. In this report, we have confirmed the particular phenolic compound which is never observed in natural lignin is incorporated into plant cell wall. This work was done by the support of JST-ALCA project.

 Dr. Nobutaka Mitsuda, current group leader, was given the Bioindustry Research Award for "Identification of key factors regulating plant cell wall formation and their application" by Japan Bioindustry Association (JBA).

2/Oct/2018 New paper:Complete substitution of a secondary cell with a primary cell wall

Our new paper describes identification of transcription factors regulating primary cell wall formation and replacement of secondary cell wall with primary cell wall-like cell wall by the identified transcription factors. 15/Apr/2016 Dr. Masaru Ohme-Takagi is selected again as one of ca. 3,000 scientists who has world-wide influence by Thomson Reuters.

Thomson Reuters selected ca. 3,000 scientists who have world-wide infuluence based on publications from 2003 to 2013. Dr. Masaru Ohme-Takagi is selected again in the field of Plant & Animal Science.

07/Sep/2015 Special Award (Technology) is given to Dr. Nobutaka Mitsuda and Dr. Masaru Ohme-Takagi by BSJ.

The Botanical Sciety of Japan (BSJ) selected Dr. Nobutaka Mitsuda, Dr. Masaru Ohme-Takagi and other colleagues in AIST and RIKEN as special award (technology) winner in 2015FY by the development of plant transcription factor resources.

20/Mar/2015 Young Investigator Award is given to Dr. Nobutaka Mitsuda by JSPP.

Japan Sociery of Plant Physiologists (JSPP) selected Dr. Nobutaka Mitsuda as one of two young investigator award winners in 2015FY by the study of plant transcription factors.

30/Jul/2014 Dr. Masaru Ohme-Takagi is selected as one of 3,200 scientists who has world-wide influence by Thomson Reuters.

Thomson Reuters selected 3,200 scientists who have world-wide infuluence based on publications from 2002 to 2012. Dr. Masaru Ohme-Takagi is selected in the field of Plant & Animal Science.

Our laboratory moved to the 6-8 building in Tsukuba center of AIST.

01/Apr/2012 Group leader has been changed to Dr. Kaoru Suzuki.

The group name has been changed from "Gene Regulation Research Group" to "Plant Gene Regulation Research Group".

01/Sep/2010 Dr. Masaru Ohme-Takagi and Dr. Nobutaka Mitsuda won a prize of "Technology Award" from the JSPCMB.

"Technology Award" of the Japanese Society for Plant Cell and Molecular Biology was given to Masaru Ohme-Takagi, Nobutaka Mitsuda and our alumni Kyoko Matsui, Tomotsugu Koyama and Keiichiro Hiratsu by the development and application of novel gene-silencing technology CRES-T.
