. The mission of the Tsukuba Advanced Computing Center (TACC) is to provide computing resources to the research units of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology(AIST). It also supports the development of high-speed computer technologies, promotes information exchange with in AIST, both in Japan and internationally, using high-speed networks, and establishes and manages research databases based on expert knowledge. Through these activities, TACC aims to expand the knowledge of science and engineering, support industrial activities, and contribute to solving energy and environmental problems.

Announcement on the closing of the CPN website
The operation of the CPN system, which was available only in Japanese language, ended on March 31, 2004. We are very grateful to all the users and everyone involved for their kind cooperation and support of this program.

TACC cooperates with the SC2003 HPC Challenge.
The TACC supported the "Global Analysis of Arthropod Evolution" (winning the Most Geographically Distributed Application Award) and the "SCinet 2003 Bandwidth Challenge CFP" (winning the Distributed Infrastructure Award) of the SC2003 HPC Challenge, in which the Grid Technology Research Center participated, by providing the computing resources, adjusting the network environments, etc.

Mr. Tanabe, new TACC Director, presents an inaugural address.
On April 1, 2003, Yoshikazu Tanabe took up his post as TACC Director (and the Director of the AIST) superseding Kiyoyuki Terakura.
