We are aiming to achieve comprehensive technical development of advanced
materials/components using the latest materials technologies based upon
the condition of the limitation of our resources and energy, in order to
enable the substainable development of society. As immediate and crucial
topics to be tackled, we are working on the following subjects.
・Reducing weight of transportation equipment
In order to achieve improved mileage through lightweight transportation
equipment, we are developing a technology which will allow use of magnesium,
the lightest of recyclable and practical structural metal materials, in
the main parts of automobiles.
・Energy-saving building component
Our developments include light-controlling glass, wood-based window
sashes, and humidity-controlling walls, which can significantly reduce
the energy required for air-conditioning of buildings.
・Countermeasures in response to concerns of shortage of metal resources
Regarding the metal resources of which there are concerns of shortage in the near future owing to increased demand and extreme unevenness in distribution of underground resources, we are developping technologies to allow consumption-saving use, as well as alternative material technologies which utilize resources of which a more stable supply can be anticipated. |
