In order to promote health, safety, security, and high QOL in a sustainable society, we at HTRI conduct research on human characteristics and environments by using and integrating tools from various disciplines, including psychology, physiology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and mathematical science. On the basis of the knowledge thus gained, we develop products and living environments that are highly compatible with human mental and physical characteristics.
Our specific goals are to develop the following:
- Technologies that evaluate and assist cognitive and physical abilities to improve overall mental and physical adaptability
- Rehabilitation technologies to promote independence
- Medical devices that are less burdensome to patients
- Advanced medical technologies
- Standardization protocols for products, environmental evaluation, and design that consider the needs of the elderly and disabled
These projects will contribute to the development of industries related to human technologies and medical/welfare device technologies.
