AIST Tsukuba Central 5

To Central 5

Take a train (rapid service: 45 min, semi-rapid service: 52 min) from Akihabara and get off at Tsukuba Station. Take exit A3 for public transportation or AIST shuttle bus.

1. Take the Kanto Tetsudo bus going to "Arakawaoki (West Entrance) via Namiki" or "Ami Chuo Kominkan" from platform 4 at Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal. Get off at Namiki 2-chome. Walk for approximately 3 minutes to AIST Tsukuba Central.
   
   Take the free AIST shuttle bus (operated on weekdays) from the platform for private buses. It stops at AIST Tsukuba West or East before AIST Tsukuba Central. Several NIMS shuttle buses go to AIST Tsukuba Central via NIMS and AIST Tsukuba East.(From June 1, 2009) You may take the free NIMS buses at the same bus stop. Please note that the shuttle bus is a small vehicle and it may not be able to carry all passengers who are waiting.

2. Take a taxi from Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal.  It takes approximately 15 minutes and it costs about 1,500 yen.

JR Jouban Line

Ueno-->Arakawaoki Station (about 60 min.) Take the West exit.

Take the Kanto Tetsudo bus going to �gTsukuba Daigaku Chuo�h or �gTsukuba Center via Namiki�h from platform #4 at Arakawaoki Station. Get off at �gNamiki 2-chome (namiki ni-chome)�h. Walk for approximately 3 minutes to AIST Tsukuba Central.

Taxi is also available from Arakawaoki Station (about 15 min.)


Highway Bus

Take a highway bus (co-operated by JR and Kanto Testudo) going to �gTsukuba Center�h or �gTsukuba Daigaku (University)�h from JR Highway Bus Terminal at Tokyo Station. It will take approximately 65 minutes and it costs 1,150 yen for a one-way ticket. Get off at �gNamiki 2-chome (namiki ni-chome)�h and walk 3 minutes to AIST Tsukuba Central.

Airport Bus

• Haneda Airport - Tsukuba Center (bus terminal) : Costs 1,800 yen one way, takes approximately 120 minutes
• Narita Airport - Tsukuba Center (bus terminal) : Costs 2,540 yen one way, takes approximately 120 minutes

Car using the Joban Expressway

Leave Expressway at Sakura-Tsuchiura Exit.
Go left towards Tsukuba.
Turn right at the second intersection (Sasagi.)
Turn left at the third intersection (Namiki 2-chome), and turn left.

AIST Tsukuba West

To West

Take a train (rapid service: 45 min, semi-rapid service: 52 min) from Akihabara and get off at Tsukuba Station. Take exit A3 for public transportation or AIST shuttle bus.

1. Take the Kanto Tetsudo bus going to "Hitachino Ushiku Station" from platform 4 at Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal. Get off at "Kisho Kenkyusho". Walk for approximately 1 minute to AIST Tsukuba Westl.
   
   Take the free AIST shuttle bus (operated on weekdays) from the platform for private buses. Please note that the shuttle bus is a small vehicle and it may not be able to carry all passengers who are waiting.

JR Jouban Line

JR Ueno St.--(1 hour)--Hitachino-Ushiku St. Take the East exit.

From Hitachino-Ushiku St., both Bus line and Taxi are available.
Bus Line : for Tsukuba Center, leave at Kishou Kenkyusho. Walk about 1 minute to AIST Tsukuba West.
Taxi : about 15 min. ride

The Joban Expressway

Leave Expressway at Yatabe or Sakura-Tsuchiura Exit.
Take the Route 354.
Turn at Inarimae intersection for Mt. Tsukuba.
A tall tower (light blinking) at the Meteorological Research Inst. will be a landmark..
