Power Laser Group
- Development of Ultra-Intense Iaser and Its Applications -

Power Laser Group was reorganized on April 1, 2011.

Extremely high power- and energy density can be achieved when a high peak-power laser pulse is focused into a small spot. Electrons are accelerated to a speed close to the speed of light, and materials (usually in plasma state) are heated up to 10 million - 1 billion degree. This condition can be used to trigger fusion reaction for energy application or to emit intense x-ray to see inside of materials both in very compact ways. We conduct research on intense laser and interaction with matter related to fusion energy, charged particle acceleration, and x-ray generation.

Group Leader:   Eisuke MIURA
