Research Core for Deep Geological Environment / AIST

Geodynamics Team

We research and assess the volcanic activities and tectonic movements extend over a long period of time. Also, we improve the precision of geochronological methods.

Crustal Fluid Team

Based on the geochemical properties and principles of water, we investigate the processes and characteristics of groundwater systems strongly depending on the three-dimensional configuration of geologic substances through which flow takes place.
We study the circulation process and the origin of fluids in the earth's crust, based on geochemistry and thermodynamics.

Geophysics Group

We investigate the subsurface structure based on the geophysical methods such as gravity, geomagnetic and seismic surveys. We also study the precise geophysical exploration of groundwater systems together with other research groups.

Geological Isolation Research Group

The Geological Isolation Research Group takes charge of the geological field investigation, the laboratory experiment, their synthetic modeling in the scope of the perormance assessment of the bed rock properties, and the information services based on the activities of the Research Core.
