Workshop

Green Manufacturing in Ceramics

SCOPE

In the recent years, depletion of the natural resources and environmental degradation were among the most important problems. Especially in Japan, it is serious because economical activity mostly depends on import resources. Technological developments we expect in this century should be directed towards decreasing the environmental load for sustaining a healthy life and clean nature.
In the ceramic industry, moreover, technological developments are strongly required due to the saving of energy in manufacturing process and the generation of tremendous amounts of by-products and wastes that have harmful influence on the environment. For instance, during sintering process a large amount of energy is consumed and a large volume of CO, CO2 and poisonous gases such as endocrine disrupter and NOx are evolved due to organic binder used in molding process. Therefore, it is extremely crucial to develop new products, materials, and novel processes in order to minimize detrimental effects on the environment.
This workshop will focus on the "Green Manufacturing in Ceramics". We will report our latest research in technologies of sintering, molding, analysis and its related technology. Furthermore, the current status of ceramic industry in this field will be illustrated in the keynote lecture.
We look forward to your participation and seeing you in Nagoya, Japan.
