Vitae of Invited Speakers

Prof. Roberto Paolesse
Department of Chemical Science and Technology, University of Rome

He is an associate professor of general chemistry at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. His research interests include the synthesis and reactivity of transition metal complexes with porphyrins and related macrocycles and the development and application of chemical sensors. Ha authored more than 250 papers on international journals and conferences. He was chairman of the 4th International Conference on Porphyrins and Phtalocyanines (Rome 2006) and is a member of the steering committee of International Meeting of Chemical Sensors conferences series.

Prof. Ooi-Kiang Tan
Division of Microelectronics, Nanyang Technological University

He received his Ph.D. from the Nanyang Technological University, M.Sc. from the University of Edinburgh and B.E. (1st class Hons) from the National University of Singapore. He is currently an Associate Professor and the Head, Division of Microelectronics in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He has been actively involved in the Sensors, Actuators, and Smart Materials research group in the Microelectronics Center, EEE, NTU. His recent work has seen excellent results in semiconductor gas sensors. He has also worked in IC design for many years. His interest is in silicon IC designs, thick and thin film devices, especially semiconductor and ferroelectric films, nano-sized materials for sensor and actuator application, integration on silicon, and bio-chemical sensors. He has been appointed as member of International Steering Committee for the East Asian Conference on Chemical Sensors. He is a senior member of the IEEE.

Dr. Sang-Do Han
Electrical and Electronic Materials RC, KIER

Sang-Do Han received his Ph.D. degree in Solid State Chemistry from University of Bordeaux, France. He worked at LG Semiconductor Co. Ltd. and is currently a principal researcher in the photo-electro material center at Korea Institute of Energy Research(KIER) since 1980. His areas of interest are : (i) electronic and electrolyte nano-materials, (ii) advanced chemical sensors and MEMS devices, (iii) hydrogen, oxygen and ozone production technologies, and (iv) inorganic/organic phosphor materials and devices. Currently, he is President of (the Journal of) Korean Sensors Society and Chairman of 8thAsian Conference on Chemical Sensors-2009(8thACCS-2009). He has 320 research results including papers, patents, reports and books, is co-working as a professor in electronic materials and devices of Chungnam National University.

Prof. Takamichi Nakamoto
Department of Physical electronics, Graduate School of Science and Engineering
Tokyo Institute of Technology

He received BE and ME degrees from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1982 and 1984, respectively. In 1991, he received a PhD degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology. He worked for Hitachi in the area of VLSI design automation from 1984 to 1987. In 1987, he joined Tokyo Institute of Technology as a research associate. He has been an associate professor with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology since 1993. From 1996 to 1997, he was a visiting scientist at Pacific Northwest Laboratories, Richland, WA, USA. His research interests cover chemical sensing system, acoustic wave sensor, neural network and ASIC design.
